On May 7th, 2015, at about 9:20 PM, the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Dunkirk Police Department and Chautauqua County Probation Department conducted a search warrant signed by Dunkirk City Judge Walter Drag at 35 W Third St. Officers had to break through heavily-fortified doors and windows of the building, which were set up to make the forced entry more difficult.
Growing marijuana plants worth $50,000 were seized, along with processed marijuana and a grow system, which included lights, an automated watering system, fans, dehumidifiers, chemicals and other items associated with the grow operation. Also recovered from the residence were records linked to the grow.
Pedro Solares, 60, of Dunkirk who was located inside at the time of the search warrant, was charged with Unlawfully Growing Marijuana.
Further charges and arrests are anticipated.
