After several Months of planning and work the City of Dunkirk Police Department will be working out of a newly remodeled updated Communications Center. The remodeled center replaces operations and equipment that was close to 30 years old.

Realizing that the main operations center of the Police Department was in need of facility updates and modernization Mayor Willie Rosas worked with the Police Department on a plan to move the project forward with budget funds being allocated for 2018 to complete the task. With the Administration approving the 2018 budget the planning and design for the project started in early 2018 and was recently completed.

Desk Sergeant Daniel Manzella coordinated the project for the Department and worked with City Electrician Mike Przybycien, City Custodian Lou Polichetti, City Welder Ken Sek, Chief David Ortolano and several members of the Police Department in the design and remodel process. The entire Communications center was gutted with all of the electrical, communications and  computer/data systems as well as City Hall/ Police Department Security Cameras and Monitors being upgraded and updated. New shelving was built to house electrical and video recording equipment. Once the center was gutted and prepared for renovations Contract Interior Solutions of Jamestown began work on installing the new design concept for the Communications Desk area and flooring. The City’s Communications provider Saia Communications of Buffalo worked on the relocation, updates and installation of the Radio Communications equipment in the Center.

The Communications Center is the heart of the day to day operations of the City of Dunkirk Police Department. With the new upgrades to our Center we will continue to provide the citizens of our Community the best in public safety that we can give them.

“On behalf of all the men and women of the City of Dunkirk Police Department I want to thank Mayor Rosas for working with us to get this project done. Thank you to City Welder Ken Sek, Contract Interior Solutions and Saia Communications for their excellent work. I want to especially thank Desk Sgt. Dan Manzella, City Electrician Mike Przybycien and Custodian Lou Polichetti for their countless hours of hard work. Everyone working together brought this project to a completion that exceeded all my expectations.”
