A traffic stop by Dunkirk Police resulted in the arrest of a 50 year old Portland, NY man for cocaine possession. At approximately 11:41 AM on Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 a vehicle operated by Steven A. Scott was observed on Lake Shore Dr. W. in the city signaling a turn improperly. The resulting investigation determined Scott to have his driving privileges revoked in New York. He was found to have a quantity of powder cocaine in excess of five hundred milligrams, and two packets of marijuana. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth degree, a Class D Felony, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana violation, Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a motor vehicle/alcohol related in the Second Degree, and with Operating a Motor Vehicle without an ignition interlock device. He was arraigned by City Court Judge Walt Drag Thursday afternoon and committed to Chautauqua County Jail. Bail was set at $30,000 Cash or $60,000 property and the case was adjourned to March 28th.
