On Tuesday January 31st at around 9:57 pm Dunkirk Police were dispatched to the intersection of S. Roberts Rd and E 2ndSt for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident. A description of the suspect vehicle was obtained and a vehicle matching the description was spotted heading south on the 400 block of Main St. Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle but the driver refused to comply. Officers continued to pursue the suspect vehicle for an extended period of time. At one point in the pursuit the driver of the suspect vehicle made a U-turn and almost struck a pursuing Dunkirk Police patrol vehicle. As the pursuit approached King St. the suspect jumped from the vehicle and a foot chase ensued. Officers chased the suspect to an apartment on King St, where he was found hiding in the attic. After speaking with the homeowner it was found that the suspect did not live or belong in the apartment that he ran to. The suspect/driver was identified as 23 yr old, Earvin I. Ezell of Fredonia, NY. He was arrested for Resisting Arrest and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and also issued (12) traffic tickets related to the original accident and the pursuit.
