Train/Pedestrian Fatality


At approximately 12:04 AM, City of Dunkirk Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported Train/Pedestrian Fatality Accident on the CSX Rail Line West of Middle Road. The victim was walking along the tracks and was struck by a Westbound CSX Freight Train.

The investigation into the accident determined that it appears there was another person walking along the railroad tracks with the victim at the time of the accident. The Police Department is asking for the person to come forward and talk with investigators about the accident.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time due to notification of family. The investigation into this incident is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Dunkirk Police Department Communications Desk at 366-2266.

City Police were assisted at the scene by City of Dunkirk Fire Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff Department, Chautauqua County Accident Reconstruction Team, CSX Railroad, County Coroner’s Office and the Chautauqua County Fire Police Traffic Control Team.

Fatal Accident Investigation-Updated

City of Dunkirk Police and Fire Departments responded to a vehicle/pedestrian accident on Main Street near E.Second Street at approximately 8:16PM March 1st.  The  66 year old male pedestrian victim has been identified as Reinaldo Pacheco Rios of Dunkirk. Rios was treated at the scene by Dunkirk Fire Department and transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital by ALSTAR Ambulance where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Maple Ave. Fatal Accident

cropped-Car-7-Background-1.jpgThe Dunkirk Police Departments investigation into a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred early Sunday morning 12/6/2015 is ongoing. Detectives have been working the investigation and are following up on several leads. The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.

The victim in this fatality has been identified as Ramon J. Feliciano age 21 of Dunkirk.
