On Sunday November 18, 2018, a local man with an outstanding warrant for Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree Loaded Firearm, was taken into custody after a vehicle pursuit in the City of Dunkirk. At about 11:30 AM, Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Trevon D. Tripp, age 21, of Dunkirk, NY, who failed to comply and attempted to flee from officers in the vehicle. Tripp was taken into custody shortly after he abandoned the vehicle and led officers on a foot pursuit. In addition to the outstanding warrants, Tripp has been charged with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving and six additional Vehicle and Traffic infractions. During the incident the Dunkirk Police were assisted by the Fredonia Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.
